Allison & Will got married on April 12, 2014 at Ashelynn Manor in Magnolia, TX. It was a beautiful day, and we have the photos to prove it! It was a warm spring afternoon, and the skies were sunny and clear. After the ceremony in the chapel, it looked like there was a storm on its way in. We took advantage of the unique lighting and got some super dramatic portraits in front of the chapel. I always love visiting new venues, and photographing them in a new light, literally. So many photographers visit the same venues, and it can present a challenge when trying to get creative on the wedding day. I love walking away from a wedding day with some one of a kind shots that feature the signature style that I have refined over the last 8 years. Allison and Will are a very cool couple from Houston, TX. I had a chance to get to know them during their engagement session as well as Allison’s bridal’s leading up to the wedding day. You can view Allison’s bridal photos here. During the reception, I was getting some great results with the lighting. The ceiling in the venue is aluminum, and was just perfect for bouncing light. I often use off camera lighting during receptions, but it looked awesome just the way I was using it. I shot most of the reception at a very high ISO in order to capture the up-lighting and color that made the party look so pretty. I am a big fan of capturing receptions to make them look exactly as I remember it.
Ashelynn Manor is a full services venue that is great for weddings and events alike. One of my favorite elements of the venue is that there is a variety of locations to choose from when deciding where to shoot. It was more of a question of what kind of photos do I want to take, rather than here are our only options. Here are a few of my favorite photos from the afternoon.
