Lidia & Jesse got married at the beautiful Cathedral of San Fernando located in downtown San Antonio, TX on January 24, 2015. This was my second wedding of 2015, and I am proud to feature them. Lidia & Jesse are a very nice couple, and I enjoyed everything about their day. San Fernando Cathedral is easily one of the most gorgeous churches in San Antonio. I have shot portraits in the courtyard of the church, but this was the first time I was given the opportunity to shoot a wedding out there. The lighting during the full mass ceremony was just right. I love shooting Catholic ceremonies, especially in a location like this one. When I photograph weddings and portraits alike, I always come prepared. All cameras and lenses are backed up in the event of malfunction. Mid way through Lidia & jesse’s wedding ceremony, the mirror in my Nikon D3s decided to snap off. Good thing I had a backup camera with me, and ready to go. I love it when despite difficulties, the photos turn out perfect 🙂 After the ceremony, I took all family photos in the church and then bridal party photos out front. Lidia & Jesse are just wonderful in front of the camera. I gave them direction during their portraits, but they really didn’t need much of it. They seemed so comfortable in front of the camera, that it made my job really easy. The first image in the series is a two image flash composite of them in front of the cathedral. I love the way Lidia’s veil is blowing! The shot turned out just right 🙂 After they were introduced into the reception, we all had dinner and then we took a few night portraits on the balcony, right downtown. Night portraits are some of my favorite, because with lack of light, I have total control over the exposure. When I first started shooting weddings, about 8 years ago. low light photography was one the areas that needed attention. Now, I embrace the dark, and get creative with my lighting.
