Whitney and Chad had their sunrise elopement held at Camp Lucy on January 18, 2018. I have shot several weddings at this legendary location, but this was my first time shooting a sunrise wedding out there. They say that it is darkest right before sunrise, and I believe that they are right. I arrived to Camp Lucy the same way I always do, but it definitely seemed different. I approached this wedding with a unique mindset, and I believe the images reflect that. We had their first look off to the side of Ian’s Chapel and then made our way to the arch for the sunrise. There was an overcast that morning, but the sun did make an appearance on the horizon for a short while. I made sure to expose for that area of the sky while illuminating Whitney & Chad from the left for a very moody and dramatic effect. It is not often that we are given the opportunity to access both Sacred Oaks and Camp Lucy in one day. Being that there was nobody around, we hopped in my car and cruised over there for a few shots at the stunning ceremony site. I stuck with natural lighting for those images and they came out great. One of the photos featured is a multi image bokeh panorama that really shows off the space. It is the last image in the Sacred Oaks portion of the post. I really love how it turned out. My favorite shot from the day is definitely the black and white photo of Whitney and Chad ringing the bell at Ian’s Chapel. The expression on Whitney’s face is that of pure joy. I love this special tradition and this photo really says it all. I enjoyed working with Whitney & Chad, and I love how their wedding day collection turned out. Enjoy!
