Ashley and Dereck got married on November 4, 2017 at Vintage Villas in Austin, TX. I loved being a part of their wedding day. Their wedding was a little different in that they decided to have a morning ceremony and a brunch reception. I arrived about two hours before the wedding to get a few shots of the ladies in the bridal suite as well as some pre wedding shots of the guys. Because we were not pressed for time, we planned all group shots for after the wedding. Usually knocking them out pre ceremony is a great idea for lighting purposes, but this was not necessary for them. The wedding took place overlooking Lake Travis. It made for a stunning backdrop. The lighting was soft and even, and I love the way the collection turned out. After the ceremony we took all group shots and then moved into the party! This was a fun group for sure. You could feel the love in the room, and everyone had a blast. My favorite part of the day was most certainly Ashley & Dereck’s send off. Rather than having bubbles or sparklers for their photos, they decided to use multi colored smoke bombs. The shots turned out epic! Usually exits take place at night, so this was totally different than 99% of the exit shots I have taken in my career as a wedding photographer. After their awesome exit, they hopped into a vintage Mercedes-Benz and sped away. It was an amazing end to a fantastic wedding day. Later on in the evening, we met up at Butler Park for Ashley & Dereck’s after session. We took advantage of the best that Austin, TX has to offer and got some really awesome night shots of the skyline.
