Missouri Wedding : Sarah & Dave

This was certainly a day that I will never forget. Dave and I are good friends and we shoot weddings together all the time. When he asked me to be their wedding photographer, I was thrilled and honored. Wildcliff Weddings & Events is located in a remote town called Blackwater, MO, outside Kansas City. This venue is seriously amazing. Its right on the water, and has more photo-worthly locations that I have ever experienced in a single wedding. Here is a bit about the venue taken from their website:

What was once established as the McDowell Rock Quarry, has now become a premier outdoor venue for Mid-Missouri. During the late 1890s, a dynamite blast hit an underground spring that filled the quarry and would eventually shut down operations. Later the property opened to the public as Wildcliff Campground & Resort. Families all over the mid-west came to camp and swim among the exposed cliffs and clear blue lake. In 1986, the campground closed and Wildcliff soon became a private residence to the Danner family. Over the last years, Wildcliff has hosted numerous family and community events with a landscape that is unmatched to anything Mid-Missouri has to offer. With over 300 acres of developed and natural landscape, you can find multiple locations to host your big event.

This wedding was off the charts fun. Its not every day that you I get to take photos of other photographers, while crossing a river in a sinking canoe with another photographer who, kind of looks like me :). I must say, I was all smiles during this one. Shooting such a cool couple in this amazing place made the day go by ridiculously fast. It was very challenging narrowing down my selection for this post, but I think I got most of my faves. Enjoy this massive post, and feel free to share it with your friends and family.

Pecan Springs Ranch Wedding: Grant & Lindsay

Grant & Lindsy had their Pecan Springs Ranch Wedding on May 26, 2019. This wedding was so much fun, that I totally forgot that I was a hired pro. I felt like I was part of the wedding party. This group of people was super welcoming, and the energy was so amazing, that this wedding will forever be burned into my mind. Pecan Springs Ranch is a spectacular space for a wedding. PSR has the look and feel of a far west Dripping Springs venue but without the drive. The location is absolutely king. I photographed three weddings out there this last year, and I am very excited to finally share one of them on my website. We have worked hard to keep the property as natural as possible, using materials found right here on the land. Even the original fireplace from the 1800’s has been reconstructed with rock found on the property as one of the ceremony spots. We have also taken steps to preserve the 1800’s-era log cabin. We used reclaimed pine from the Bastrop fires as the exposed trusses in the main building, which makes it very special to us and our visitors. Throughout the property and the buildings you will see reclaimed barn wood used as doors, and reclaimed doors used throughout the property. The venue was created with a neutral backdrop in mind so that each couple can create their vision of their wedding and reflect their personalities. We have seen everything from black tie affairs to kick off your shoes and stay awhile! The main goal was to create a comfortable environment for your Big Day!

Although their wedding photos were wrapped up within seven days, I am just now getting around to blogging them. The massive wave of photos that I produced during the spring and early summer, made it almost impossible to sit down and blog anything. Anywho…here they are! Camp Lucy Wedding: Abby & Doug

Abby and Doug got married on April 7, 2019 at the one and only Camp Lucy in Dripping Springs, TX. I have a ton of experience at this venue. Each and every time I shoot out here, I am reminded of how stunning this venue is. On Abby and Doug’s wedding, we were lucky enough to get some rain, a rainbow, and a stunning sunset to top it all off. This was the trifecta of portrait conditions that really made this collection well rounded. Usually, you get one of these, neer all three! I arrived about two hours before the wedding to get all of the getting ready and detail shots wrapped up. From there, we shot all wedding party (separately) and of course, the ceremony in Ian’s Chapel. For those who do not know about Ian’s Chapel, here is a snippet taken directly from Camp Lucy’s website:

Meticulously designed, thoughtfully planned, and built with heart, Ian’s Chapel at Camp Lucy features a restored 19^thcentury French Colonial Chapel and antique bell from Vietnam, a majestic Events Hall created from a repurposed 1800’s Amish barn originally built from hand-hewn white oak timbers in Ohio and a dramatic, open-air Pavilion made from the ironwood timbers of a 1930’s French Colonial church and a Ludowici tile roof repurposed from the Bexar County courthouse in downtown San Antonio. The Great Lawn and the Stone Arch provide breathtaking outdoor ceremony site options.

Vista West Ranch Wedding : Madison & Bjorn

Madison & Bjorn got married at Vista West Ranch on Mach 2, 2018. I met these guys at one of Vista West Ranch’s open houses about a year back. I am so thankful that they hired me because this was definitely a wedding to remember. Right from the start, it was a blast. I arrived a couple of hours early like an always do, and we set up their first look after a few getting ready shots. The weather that weekend was dicey. I was worried that it was going to rain the whole time, but rather than unwelcomed bad weather, we were given a thick overcast and some fog. Some would argue that these conditions aren’t ideal, but I must say, it was very beautiful out. So beautiful in fact, that I am featuring this wedding on my blog! After we wrapped up the first look and wedding party photos, it was ceremony time. The wedding was ultra beautiful, as expected. After the wedding ceremony was finished up, cocktail our led us unto the reception. I can usually gauge how much fun a group is right away. While I was waiting for the wedding to kick off, I was taking crowd shots, and I had a good feeling that this reception as going to be epic. I knew it in my heart, and I was freaking right. There was strong energy in Vista West Ranch that evening. The toasts were awesome, and the dance party was world class. This wedding did have one thing that I had never seen before. Its called a shoey, and you can read more about that Here. Anyways, this wedding was amazing, and I loved being a part of it. Sacred Oaks Wedding : Bridgette & Mike

Bridgette & Mike got married at Camp Lucy’s Sacred Oaks on September 28, 2018. This couple was such a dream to photograph. Not only are they super likable but are an absolute breeze to photograph. I arrived at 4:30 to kick off the day. We set up a first look so we could knock out all of the family photos and wedding party stuff prior to the 6:30 ceremony time. We also spent a little time taking a few portraits of Bridgette & Mike as well. The first shot in the collection is a massive 13 image bokeh panorama taken at Sacred Oaks ceremony site. This was shot with my 105mm at an aperture of 1.8. When all stitched together, it gives such a unique look. Learned from the pioneer of the Brenizer Method, this technique certinaly makes an impression. After we wrapped up all of the pre-wedding photos, it was ceremony time. This venue is seriously stunning. Each an every time I shoot out here, I am overwhelmed with how beautiful it is. Needless to say, I am thrilled with the outcome of the ceremony photos. After the wedding, Bridgette & Mike made their way to cocktail hour. Midway through, we stepped out front to get a few shots of the magnificent sunset that was gifted to us that day. Make sure and check out the last image in the series. It is a two image flash composite of Bridgette & Mike taken in the parking lot :). The reception was such a party. Ross with Look No Further Entertainment did not disappoint with his DJ skills. He is easily one of the best in town. Diane & Kimberly with Silver Thistle Events did a splendid job of moving the day along smoothly. It is always a pleasure to work with this ladies. This was a one of a kind wedding with a one of a kind couple. I really enjoyed being a part of their day, and loved how their collection turned out.
